Canadian(Ontario)-born R&B singer Keisha Chante has been confirmed to play Aaliyah in a much-anticipated biopic set for release next year.According to the National Post, the ink is dry on Chante’s contract to portray the R&B singer in the as-yet-titled biopic.
Chronicling the life of the R&B star that brought magic to both the screen and the studio, Aaliyah’s biopic will attempt to cover the singer’s journey up to her untimely death in 2001.
Chante, a successful R&B singer who released “2U” in 2006, will also star in a new television series entitled “Soul,” set to hit the ’small screen’ early 2009.
A release date has not been set, the Aaliyah biopic is rumored to be hitting theaters mid-2009.
