Three years later this month, Ms. Chante opens for the very first time ever telling Chris Yandek of CYInterview.com in a world exclusive in its entirety what happened with the Aaliyah movie, updates the status of the Aaliyah project and put all the rumors to rest. “I did meet a few people production company wise that are developing the Aaliyah movie and they spoke to me about playing her in the biopic of her life… And from my understanding, there are people trying to create a movie and Aaliyah’s family are still mourning her loss and aren’t ready to share her story and create a film. So there’s a bit of back and forth thing with her family and with creative people. And I know that they would bless a movie being created, they’re just not 100 percent comfortable and unfortunately from my understanding they don’t have complete control of her estate. So a movie could technically be made without them green lighting it and I kind of think that’s unfortunate. So I want her family to be on board and to be happy with it. It’s still kind of lingering in the air.” Ms. Chante explained why this was the perfect time to tell the world through interview journalist Chris Yandek what is the status of the movie that many Aaliyah fans want to see happen: “I’ve always wanted to kind of talk about it, it’s just really, it’s uncomfortable. I don’t want to disrespect her family. I know that they’re, they don’t like it. They don’t like when they get calls from people, like, ‘Oh, I heard this about your daughter. I heard this.’ Because it’s painful for them. So I know that the lawyer and even them and even my team who have kind of like you know, it’s happy, it’s better for everyone to not really speak on it and I just feel like you know, I’m not supposed to speak on it, but I know in this situation, yeah, it’ kind of, it’s a long time coming and I know people really want to know what’s going on. So yeah, I definitely think this was the perfect time to tell you.”

Keisha Chante Trains for Aaliyah Movie
Bill Condon, director of the Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson movie Dreamgirls and writer of the movie Chicago, has been linked to the film. We will all be enlightened with a big time flick.Condon is known to attract big-time talent to his projects. According to Bossip, Condon has already secured Timbaland, Ginuwine, and Missy E. to appear in the film and play themselves. Even Hype Williams is on board to recreate Aaliyah’s final video shoot.

Aaliyah Movie Out In 2010
Canadian singer Keisha Chante is to play Aaliyah in the upcoming biopic movie that will release sometime next year.A star in the R&B world before she was even out of her teens, Aaliyah’s promising career was tragically cut short by her shocking death in a plane crash at age 22. Aaliyah was on location in the Bahamas to film a video for ”Rock the Boat.”
On August 25, she and several members of the crew boarded a small twin-engine Cessna plane returning to the mainland. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, exploding on impact. Aaliyah and seven other passengers were killed instantly, and the ninth later died at a Nassau hospital. Investigations into the crash showed that the plane had been loaded far past its weight capacity and that pilot Luis Morales had recently been arrested for crack cocaine possession (traces of which, along with alcohol, were found in his system).
The charter company, Blackhawk International Airways, had not authorized him to pilot the craft in question. As details continued to emerge from the plane crash investigation, Aaliyah’s parents filed suit against Blackhawk Airways, Virgin Records, and several other companies.
While many fans are hatin’ on Keisha I think the casting director did a great job! I have been looking up various photos of Keisha & Aaliyah and it’s uncanny how similar they look alike. I love Aaliyah & remember exactly where I was & what I was doing when I heard about her untimely death. Personally I can’t wait to see this movie. Aaliyah was truly an inspiration & had much to offer the R&B scene & the big screen.

Aaliyah sold more than 32 million albums worldwide before her career was cut short. The film will be a biopic of the singers life. Bill Condon, director of “DreamGirls” will be directing the film.
